What is MAGNET?
MAGNET is a quarterly, internationally distributed, glossy music magazine that gives well-deserved attention to musicians largely ignored by mainstream publications. Combining the looks and professionalism of corporate magazines with the fervor and intent of fanzines, MAGNET finds the best new music and lets you in on the engaging stories behind alternative music's most influential artists. In each issue, MAGNET presents in-depth feature stories, the latest music news, consumer-oriented columns, bold photography and hundreds of critical record reviews that span almost every conceivable genre. When did MAGNET start publishing?

MAGNET accepts CDs, records and tapes, which we will consider for review. We do not review demos. Send to: MAGNET Reviews, 1218 Chestnut St., Suite 508, Philadelphia, PA 19107. Including a brief bio or press sheet is helpful; we generally do not need press photos. We will consider everything that comes our way, but we can't guarantee anything beyond that. If you want to inquire about the status of materials you sent to us, e-mail is the best (and preferred) way. Please don't call us; if we took every phone call we get about such matters, we wouldn't have time to publish a magazine. Is MAGNET looking for writers and photographers?
MAGNET is always in need of talented, professional writers and photographers. However, please read the guidelines below before submitting your material.Writers: Hard-copy writing samples may be sent via postal mail to the attention of Matthew Fritch. They may also be sent via e-mail as either a) links to your work posted online; or b) brief clips pasted into the body of an e-mail. Do not send clips as attachments; we will not open them. We will contact you if we're interested. As all editorial assignments come from MAGNET HQ, we are not interested in being pitched story ideas or having you submit articles on spec.
Photographers: Postcards and other non-returnable promotional items may be sent to the attention of Kimberly Merritt. We will contact you if we're interested in seeing your book or portfolio. Please do not e-mail us photos.
Are there any full-time staff positions available?
Not at the moment, but we will keep any résumés on file should we have an opening in the future.Does MAGNET offer internships?
Yes. Please be aware that all internships are unpaid, and as such we require that interns receive college credit for their efforts. Interns must live in Philadelphia and work a minimum of 10 hours per week. Contact us via email (miles {at} magnetmagazine {dot} com) if you're interested.May I stop by the office to drop off a portfolio/résumé/CD?
We highly recommend not doing so. As much as we enjoy human contact, we are all very occupied tending to business during the day. Please send us materials in the mail. Why isn't your Web site updated more often?
We publish a magazine, not a Web site. OK, we do publish a Web site. You're at it right now. But we spend our time working on the print magazine, which is gorgeous and tangible and easier on the eyes than a computer screen. Can I advertise on your Web site?
We don't believe in banner ads; we just believe in us.Where is MAGNET sold?

MAGNET is sold in every Barnes & Noble and Borders bookstore across the country, as well as in Tower, National Record Mart and Hastings chain stores.
