From The Desk Of Tigers Jaw: 10 Years Later—Tegan And Sara’s “The Con”

Spin, Tigers Jaw‘s latest album, is a glowing set of pop/rock tunes that denotes a shift in the band’s timeline. As the first release for producer Will Yip’s Atlantic Records imprint Black Cement, Spin is Tigers Jaw at its most composed and polished. But Brianna Collins and Ben Walsh still build upon their penchant for dizzying, unexpected hooks and bare, honest songwriting. Tigers Jaw will be guest editing magnetmagazine.com all week. Read our Q&A with them.

Collins: Tegan And Sara released fifth full-length album The Con in 2007. I had turned 16 four days before its release, and I can still remember the first time I listened to the record in full. It was such a pivotal time in my own life, and it was so meaningful that every song resonated with me. A decade later, and The Con is still one of my favorite records that I listen to frequently. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Tegan And Sara are performing special acoustic arrangements of all 14 songs from the record on The Con X: Tour. In addition, they’ll also be releasing The Con X: Covers, where some of their favorite artists cover all of the songs from The Con. All of the net album proceeds will go to The Tegan And Sara Foundation, which works to support LGBTQ girls and women.
