On February 26, Tulipomania will release fourth album This Gilded Age, which features LP artwork by the legendary Vaughan Oliver (Cocteau Twins, Breeders, Pixies, etc.). The Pennsylvania band recently directed and animated three videos for tracks from the album, and we are gonna premiere a new one each month on magnetmagazine.com. The first is for “Blinks First.” Lips, drums and eyes held together by mounds of tape create a simple-yet-chaotic artistry of the collage. As the images flash into movement, an enchanting guitar solo sends you in a spiral of pure nirvana. “Blinks First” was an official selection at film festivals, including Raindance and Aesthetica, and it will screen at the London Short Film Festival this month.
