To Love The Bee Gees: A Tribute To The Brothers Gibb pays homage to the one of the best pop/rock bands of all time. The CD, out November 27, benefits the Foundation To Be Named Later’s Peter Gammons Scholarship Fund, a very worthy charity named after the Hall Of Fame sportswriter (and really good guy). To Love The Bee Gees features the likes of Isobel Campbell (Belle And Sebastian), Martin Carr (Boo Radleys) and more. We are proud to premiere SheLoom‘s take on “Every Christian Lion Hearted Man Will Show You” today on magnetmagazine.com. Says SheLoom’s Eric Matthews (a long-time MAGNET friend), “When you are a little kid and you discover that you can put your head right in front of mom and dad’s stereo speakers and start to really get freaked out by the sounds of their records, for me, one of my favorite ‘albums’ was Best Of Bee Gees. It’s the yellow one with that cool photo on the back, the boys looking down at you from up on a dock or sail ship. It’s where I started to learn how to sing, doing all the harmonies and inventing new ones on ‘I Started A Joke,’ ‘Holiday,’ ‘New York Mining Disaster,’ etc. But the song with the biggest effect and largest psychic impact was ‘Every Christian Lion Hearted Man Will Show You.’ It would mess me up, cause strange dreams, even. It was a mysterious, dark, gothic, church-like drone that had a soaring glorious verse and chorus interplay, pop music from underneath the moat section of a monastery. If you are young and your soul is put together right, good music should scare you a little. I’m still scared by this one.” Download “Every Christian Lion Hearted Man Will Show You” below.
