“Mr. Banes will be advising his guests that the show has been cancelled,” the lawyer said. “All you need to do is update the Facebook event page.”

“Having a lawyer call me seems kind of silly for a guy who claims to be a big, tough political artist,” Nadine said. “Actually, I’m stunned he even has a lawyer.”

“Actually, I’m his brother-in-law.”

Nadine laughed. “I see.”

“Jeff’s going to clean out my garage in exchange for me making this phone call.”

“Wow,” Nadine said flatly. “In that case, I’ll let you go and when you next speak to Jeff, mention that he should have called me directly and saved himself … ”

“Believe me, he’s getting the worst of this deal,” the lawyer said. “I have boxes of god-only-knows-what piled up to the ceiling.”

Nadine laughed again. “Why didn’t he just call me?”

“He can’t handle being yelled at by women,” the lawyer said.

“I see,” Nadine said, dropping the promo-sheets into the recycling bin. “Well, tell him I didn’t yell.”
