From The Desk Of The Wedding Presents’ David Gedge: Wine

MAGNET kindly asked if I’d come back and guest edit again. This year has been a whirlwind for the Wedding Present with touring, the festival in Brighton, recording the new Cinerama album, the Record Store Day singles and the deluxe reissue campaign of the first eight albums. There has hardly been a minute to sit still. So here is a little collection of little things in my life at the moment.

Wine

I have been a wine drinker for most of my adult life. I started the journey with the sweet German white wines but have ended up here in the land of the dry reds. It’s my drink of choice; I hate the taste of beer and hard alcohol. My friend Kia lives in Napa Valley. She always selects an interesting bottle for me and has single-handedly changed the way I drink wine. I used to head for the cheap, light, fruity ones until I discovered pinot noir, which always seems a bit pricier. Last night I bought a New Zealand pinot noir, which was delicious but made me wonder why it made sense that it had to have come from—literally—the other side of the world.
