Best Of 2012, Guest Editors: Little Hurricane’s Celeste “C.C.” Spina On ’90s Music

As 2012 has come to an end, we are taking a look back at some of our favorite posts of the year by our guest editors.

Forgive the members of blues-rock duo Little Hurricane if they describe the past year as a whirlwind. Since their first practice in drummer Celeste “C.C.” Spina’s apartment in late 2009, they’ve gone from playing for crowds they could add up on one hand to earning the title of San Diego’s best new band and landing coveted spots at South By Southwest, Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza. Despite the fuss they’ve kicked up with their live shows and debut album, Homewrecker (Unknown Breakthrough), success hasn’t translated into overconfidence. Spina will be guest editing magnetmagazine.com all week. Read our new Little Hurricane feature.

Spina: I am a sucker for good ’90s music. I grew up on Nirvana and Soundgarden, but also love some great hip hop like Tupac or Snoop Dogg. It’s been a long enough time away from it that it can be nostalgic without being totally annoying, and can usually put me in a good mood anytime!
