Marian Call‘s fourth single off Something Fierce is about beer. Says Call of “E.S.B,” “I have heard it speaks to a great many people who have dealt with addiction or loved someone dealing with addiction, and the metaphors are intended to be dark and a little painful. The song seemed so sad that it was making people cry at shows, so I began explaining that it was mostly about beer. When I wrote it I had never broken up with anyone, so in a way this was my imaginative spin on how it might feel to end a negative, addictive, unhealthy relationship. I’ve broken up since.
