Happy New Year Makes MAGNET A Mix Tape

Brooklyn-based, Australian-born musician Eleanor Logan is Happy New Year, and she just issued the project’s self-titled debut LP (via Crikey!). Being fans of her otherworldly music, we asked her to make MAGNET a mix tape. Says Logan of it, “The theme to this mix tape is horror music videos. I recommend viewing them at night, full screen with headphones.” Check it out below, but you might want to keep the lights on.

“Twins” (download):

Hubble “Hubble’s Hubble”
Hubble’s sounds make time stand still, and his live show is a religious experience. Now put that to official NASA footage from the Hubble telescope, and you have an existential crisis. Video

ALASKAS “Cheat Cheat”
This Rick Ford cover appears on a cassette of ’60s classics reworked by Brooklyn diva ALASKAS. DJ it late night, and watch the dance floor get weird. If you want to know what drowning feels like, watch the clip. Video

Mi Ami “Time Of Love”
Another wild dance-move inducer with a clip that’s impossible to look away from. Even though you know it has all kinds of psychological side effects. Video

David Lynch “Crazy Clown Time”
I first discovered this album while touring down the east coast of Australia, and it makes the perfect soundtrack for those kinds of long, desolate drives. Brace yourself for the clip; it’s David Lynch after all. Video

HEALTH “We Are Water”
Introducing my favorite HEALTH song and b-grade splatter experience. This clip is directed by Eric Wareheim of Tim And Eric’s Awesome Show, Great Job!, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s safe for work. Video

Liars “Plaster Casts Of Everything”
This song has a crazy nervous energy to it. It makes me want to go outside and do things. The clip makes me want to stay inside behind about 10 locks. All kinds of horror going on here. Video
