He may be from Mississippi, but Dent May doesn’t sound country at all. Though he may croon into the mic at times on “Best Friend,” he comes off as generally funky, harmonic and electronic. While “disco” may not be the right word, “Best Friend” does evoke some feelings of that bygone era, in what can only be called an inspired and sweet approach. Lyrically, May doesn’t disappoint, reaching into the depths of the human condition a la James Murphy during LCD Soundsystem’s run. Download “Best Friends” below.
