MP3 At 3PM: Family Of The Year

Drawing comparisons to the great songwriting teams of the ’60s and ’70s, Family Of The Year is an L.A. band with style. Biding time until the group’s tinyOGRE Entertainment full-length debut in early 2012 is the St. Croix EP, featuring the title track as its first single. “St. Croix” has a light, breezy feel, showing off Family Of The Year’s aforementioned songwriting skills as well as the sweetness of a well-crafted pop tune. pop bands from the mid to late 80s. This is awesome, and is making me want to listen to T’Pau, The Other Ones, Fra Lippo Lippi, Danny Wilson, and even some New Order (who they rather liberally stole the melody from)

I love it, and I hope it succeeds, but since blue is not my favorite color, I won’t hold my breath.
