MP3 At 3PM: John Wesley Harding

Intelligent, witty and, above all, still English after all these years, no one has a better right to reinvigorate a classic theme from the Ray Davies songbook than John Wesley Harding. His “There’s A Starbucks (Where The Starbucks Used To Be)” bemoans the loss of what were once thought of as revered landmarks (a la the Kinks’ “Village Green Preservation Society”) and is a highlight of Wes’ most exciting album ever, The Sound Of His Own Voice (Yep Roc). Like a silver dollar dropped into your mailbox, this free mp3 is something only a bloody fool would overlook. You’re not one of those, are you?
