Chemikal Underground just issued Everything’s Getting Older, an eight-years-in-the-making collaboration between multi-instrumentalist Bill Wells and ex-Arab Strap vocalist Aidan Moffat. The two met in 2003 when Wells contributed piano to Arab Strap’s Monday At The Hug & Pint, an album that also featured members of Bright Eyes and Mogwai. Everything’s Getting Older showcases Moffat singing and doing spoken word over Wells’ jazz-leaning instrumentals, and the results are stellar and utterly original. Says Moffat, “The process was practically identical to how I worked with Malcolm (Middleton) in Arab Strap, although there was no fighting. If Bill and I disagreed on something, we had a discussion, whereas as Malcolm and I usually had a shouting match and then went in the huff for an hour.” Download “Cages” and “The Copper Top” below.
