David is one of my all time favorite songwriters. He is so funny! My entire family have been fans for over 20 years! Cracker, rocks my world at every live concert! AND David is a good guy. This album is much awaited and is on order at my local record store here in Seattle, just for me! I can’t wait!

It’s David Lowery. What else could you want or expect in this day and age of imitators and has-beens? The man with whom we all attained a higher spiritual plane by tapping into our Cracker Soul. Enough said, now go get yourself some.

I like this song from David’s solo album, Palace Guard. It seem to inhabit a world somewhere between Syd Barret (w/out the crazy) and Skip Spence, again, w/out the crazy.

I’ll be buying David Lowery’s album the minute it’s available. He’s one of our most talented and unique songwriters. I’ve been a fan of his since the first chords of Telephone Free Landslide Victory. David deserves all the attention he can get.

David Lowery is just about the best singer/songwriter/blogger/guitar slinger in the world. At least in Richmond. Seriously, you don’t know What You’re Missing (see above MC Cracker D reference). Come back to tour Dallas/Austin, man!

Admittedly, from this list, I’m a fan of both The Twilight Singers and David Lowery. David, though, has a certain wit and keenness about his work that resonates well with me. I’m really, REALLY looking forward to his solo album!

I’m very excited by the solo debut from David Lowery. Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker have always been two of my most favorite bands. From the samples I’ve heard so far, this album should appeal to fans of either of those bands, but it also sounds like it’s own thing.

I’m always excited to hear the latest release from John Shipe! One of the best singer/songwriters out there. He does it all… rock, blues, folk, country.

  35. Posted January 30, 2011 at 4:26 pm | Permalink

John Shipe’s new album Villain is a sublime mastery that never fails to please. While it is being compared to other greats like Elvis Costello to name one I think it has the artistry of early John Lennon

  36. Posted January 31, 2011 at 4:02 pm | Permalink

I’ll agree with many others here – Lowery is an underrated great songwriter. I’ve been looking forward to the solo album for a while. Also looking forward to Todd Snider’s too!
