MAGNET’s Philly homeboy G. Love returns February 22 with his fourth solo album, Fixin’ To Die (Brushfire). The LP was produced by Scott and Seth Avett of the Avett Brothers in their home state of North Carolina and features Love originals, rearranged traditionals and a cover of Paul Simon’s “50 Ways To Leave Your Lover.” Love and the Avetts met last fall and hit it off because of their shared love of back-road blues. Says Scott Avett, “There’s a little bit of this record on all the previous G. Love records; you just had to look for it. This is the record we all knew he should make and he could make, but again, he had to open himself to the core to make it.” Kids, see what you can accomplish when you give up the Special Sauce?
