Back in June, we brought you the video for Broken Bells‘ “The Ghost Inside,” which features Mad Men‘s lovely Christina Hendricks. Usually, you can’t do much better than Christina Hendricks, so you would assume there would be no need to do a second video for the song, right? Broken Bells friend (and filmmaker) Matt McCormick thought differently. The hand-claps in “The Ghost Inside” reminded McCormick of those in Hall & Oates’ “Private Eyes,” so naturally, he did the logical thing: He synced the visuals of the H&O video for “Private Eyes” with the audio from “The Ghost Inside,” superimposing James Mercer’s mouth on Daryl Hall’s face. The result is pretty damn cool.
