El Sportivo & The Blooz is a mysterious new Los Angeles band that somehow involves Lewis Pesacov (Fool’s Gold, Foreign Born). All we have to go on are stories of clandestine meetings on trains and cryptic correspondences via phone and mail. Whatever the bizarre set of circumstance that put this outfit in motion, the musical results are pretty damn fine. We were unknowingly slipped a CD-R of the band’s eponymous EP when we were buying frozen bananas from Gill’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream a few weeks ago, and we haven’t stopped listening to it. The White Iris label has since properly issued the EP, and we have taken the liberty of streaming it for you below. We have it on good authority that El Sportivo & The Blooz is playing Spaceland in Silverlake on December 13 with the Dead Trees, Sweaters and Superhumanoids. See you there.
