MP3 AT 3PM: Kristian Hoffman

Kristian Hoffman first cannonballed into the national swimming pool as the pal of Lance Loud, the oldest son of the Loud family of Santa Barbara, Calif., whose day-to-day existence was chronicled in minute detail by fab early-’70s PBS cinema-verite classic An American Family. Loud and Hoffman moved to New York just in time to catch the express bus with their newly formed band Mumps, who would share the CBGB stage with the likes of the Ramones, Blondie, Television and Talking Heads. Hoffman has released a brilliant series of baroque-pop solo albums ever since moving back to L.A., as well as served as musical director for Rufus Wainwright. Hoffman’s latest solo LP is Fop (Kayo Stereophonic), and it’s a 17-song masterpiece sure to blow your mind. MAGNET is proud to premiere album track “I Can’t Go There With You” below.

Sounds like wussified Kinks.
With The Bangles singing backgrounds.

Pacing of guitar solo is WAY out of place for this type of song.
Outro solo is better.
