Eels will be putting out their ninth studio album, Tomorrow Morning (E Works), on August 24. The LP marks the end of a trilogy that started with 2009′s Hombre Lobo and January’s End Times. These albums tell the story of Mark Everett’s less-than-stellar romantic life. The first single from Tomorrow Morning, “Looking Up,” is actually a decidedly cheery tune. It is far removed from debut 1996 single “Novocaine For The Soul,” which wallowed in nihilistic self pity. “Looking Up” has a sort of Ray Charles-esque feel to it, with bouncy piano melodies and wailing vocals to match.
