After touring the U.S. and Europe with his former beach-rock band Desolation Wilderness, San Francisco-based artist Nic Zwart is back on the road, this time with his ambient-pop solo project, Electric Sunset. Zwart recorded Electric Sunset’s self-titled album at various stops along his three-month road trip between Washington and California. You can hear the classic Kerouacian expressions of West Coast liberation on first single “Soda,” from the underlying heartbeat of modified samplers to the pulsating synths to Zwart’s soft, clear vocals, like a lover at your ear at the close of the night, reassuring you “don’t have to worry, it’s all right.”
