Indian Jewlery is the quintessential work in progress. Hailing from Houston, the band was originally known as Swarm Of Angels and also, at one time, a Prince cover band called Diamonds+Pearls. Now, multi-instrumentalists Erika Thrasher and Tex Kerschen (both sing) have just issued their third album, Totaled (We Are Free/Monitor). The first single from the LP is “Oceans,” a brief, synth-drenched treat. The song layers quietly clattering electronic drums and whooshing production flourishes with vocals that resemble a narcoleptic film voiceover. The effect is at once unsettling and hypnotic, like hearing the ramblings of a crazy neighbor through your bedroom wall.

You lost me at “synth drenched”.
They lost me with that “hipster” image with everyone trying to out-cool everyone else. Having read the article, “synth drenched” further damaged my interest level.
