After hiking in Indiana, singer/songwriter John McCauley found a deer tick on his scalp. Since then, the Providence, R.I., resident has made three albums with his band Deer Tick: 2007′s War Elephant, 2009′s Born On Flag Day and the upcoming The Black Dirt Sessions. Due out June 8, The Black Dirt Sessions (Partisan) was recorded late last year in upstate New York.
