AstroPuppees frontwoman Kelley Ryan’s first solo album, Twist, has just been released by Manatee Records. The record has a primarily female theme, with lyrics containing stories about women from old to young, kind of like Benjamin Button. Ryan also rejects the electric-guitar sound and opts for a gentler, acoustic feel, featuring eclectic instrumentation including string arrangements by Van Dyke Parks and producer Don Dixon on tuba, melodica and wine glasses. Ryan gives Beck’s “Lost Cause” the feminine treatment on the album as well. Download it below.
