Some of you might remember that time Bob Geldof gathered up some of the biggest names in British and Irish rock ‘n roll and had them record that Christmas song to raise money for Ethiopia. Well, seeing as that was 25 years ago, Fucked Up decided it was time for a re-release, North American indie-rock style. This version of “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” features appearances by Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend), Tegan & Sara, Andrew W.K, Bob Mould, GZA, Yo La Tengo, David Cross, Kevin Drew (Broken Social Scene) and Kyp Malone (TV On The Radio). Continuing in Geldof’s footprints, the proceeds of the song (available on iTunes) will be donated to charities aiding victims of domestic violence. Read our 2008 Fucked Up Q&A.
