A MAGNET premiere from New Zealand rockers the Bats, “Under The Branches” has traveled a long way to get to us. Originally appearing on a limited seven-inch that was only available in Australia, this non-album track from The Guilty Office sessions reminds us why we first fell for them nearly 30 years ago. It’s the musical equivalent of date night spontaneously scheduled into a mid-life marriage: a romantic, swooning number that puts all those long nights and worries into perspective. Chiming, delicate and lovely, “Under The Branches” might have started as a rarity, but with any luck, it’ll become a legend.

Awesome! I had no idea this song even existed, but once again The Bats let their brilliance shine forth. Could’ve easily been an A-side.
