Charles Salas-Humara and Joe Kelly are Panther, a band out of Portland, Ore. They are the self-proclaimed originators of floor dancing. 2007′s Secret Lawns and 2008′s 14 Kt God sounded like the ramshackle, ironic funk/disco of Beck, but with “Love Is Sold,” they’re channeling a ’70s soft-rock radio station. Think lost ELO, Steely Dan or Stephen Stills. The pair is currently on the floor for its new album, Entropy (available September 29 on Kill Rock Stars).
