Psychedelic folk rock sounds like a made-up genre that could either drown in its own weirdness or find a way to be mesmerizingly intriguing. Kurt Vile is the personification of the latter description, exhibiting a nitty-gritty, do-it-yourself attitude very representative of his hometown of Philadelphia. Vile will release Childish Prodigy (Matador) on October 6 and has fall tour dates across the U.S. In the meantime, here’s “Freeway In Mind,” a track from last year’s Constant Hitmaker, courtesy of our pals at Gulcher Records.
