For the Champagne In Seashells EP (Yep Roc), his follow-up to last year’s I’ll Be Lightning debut, New Zealander Liam Finn (yes, he Neil’s son) enlisted childhood pal/folkie Eliza-Jane Barnes as co-writer and co-producer as well as deft harmonizer. The five-track effort’s first song, “Plane Crash,” is about as scary and foreboding as its title, with its initial quiet swirl broken by a disconcerting crash of drums and a psych-guitar freakout. Recommended listening for when on the ground. The duo begins a supporting jaunt with Wilco on October 1 in Iowa City, Iowa.
