When is a cover song better than the original? Only you can decide. This week: A German choir takes on Guided By Voices' "Goldheart Mountaintop Queen Directory." MAGNET's Edward Fairchild pulls the pin. Take cover! Amid selections from the soundtracks of Footloose, Mamma Mia! and The Lion King, a school choir from Eschwege, Germany, breaks into a majestic rendition of Guided By Voices' Bee Thousand classic "Goldheart Mountaintop Queen Directory." The unexpected song choice must have left the audience wondering if the director smelled faintly of Miller Lite and cigarettes.     It’s really hard to see, but I think one of the taller boys in the back row does a Daltry kick near the end of the song.

    Bob would totally take those kids on tour with him.

    Good cover, but totally missed an oppurtunity to have the choir do “oooo’s” for that hand-whistle part.

    I had to vote for GbV, but the first and second time I heard the choir doing that song I cried a little bit. Pretty powerful for the fanboys.

    seeing gbv in 95 changed my life forever.

    it must’ve been like seeing the who in 71.
