It seems Nashville rock mainstay Brendan Benson is always up to something musically. A break from his hugely successful band with Jack White, the Raconteurs, has resulted in yet another shining solo effort. My Old, Familiar Friend (ATO), his fourth, is due out August 18. The singer/songwriter is scheduled to play a few shows across the U.S. to support the album in late August. Benson is known for his sing-along choruses and resonating, light-hearted guitar melodies, and his new record is more of the same. It’s doubtful many listeners will mind hearing those familiar sounds.
