Much of Hopewell’s music sounds like the soundtrack to some strange, twisted dream. The psychedelic New York City five-piece led by ex-Mercury Rev member Jason Russo employs racing jungle drums, cacophonous piano, unpredictable, meandering vocals and effects-laden electric guitars. Hopewell recently finished a month-long U.S. tour in support of fifth studio album Good Good Desperation (Tee Pee), released earlier this year.
