Johnny was a Skygreen Leopards friend who used to pretend to be part of the band; only his real name wasn't Johnny, and his current whereabouts are a mystery. In memory of him, San Francisco's Skygreen Leopards title their newest LP (due July 21 on Jagjaguwar) Gorgeous Johnny. Think of "Dixie Cups In The Dead Grass" as the ballad for when Johnny Doe passed out for four hours in the backyard at that cookout last July and no one could find him. Dude was nuts.
