We asked Old 97’s frontman Rhett Miller to guest edit magnetmagazine.com this week, and he pawned it off on a bunch of his famous friends: other musicians, actors, writers and comedians. Well played, Rhett. But you can’t hide behind a self-titled solo album. Rhett Miller (Shout! Factory), a Beatlesque beauty featuring Jon Brion, is out this week.
Lonny Ross plays Josh on NBC’s 30 Rock, a.k.a. the greatest show ever. He makes me laugh. Seemingly without trying. Such a show-off! Lonny Ross recommends:
Night Shift
Between takes one day while shooting a scene on 30 Rock, a couple of the cast got to talking about great comedy films. Night Shift came up, and I went, “Oh, I’ve never seen that.” One might feel a little sheepish if a regular person accusatorially goes, “You’ve never seen Night Shift?” But when an aghast Tina Fey says it to you, it gets you right in the comedy gut. So when I rented it (like the next day), of course it was hilarious. So you should see it, if for nothing else, so you can tell Tina Fey you have.
