North Dakota-bred and well-read singer/songwriter Tom Brosseau wasn’t built for blog rock, so you’ll have to pardon the fog of tinny folk guitars and beatnik purity found on “You Don’t Know My Friends,” a track from his upcoming Posthumous Success (out via the FatCat label on June 23). You actually do know some of Brosseau’s friends: He’s worked with John Parish and John Doe, and Adam Pierce (Mice Parade) co-produced Posthumous Success.
