Somewhere between Death Cab and Death Vessel, 21-year-old Canadian singer/songwriter Andy Shauf is aching in all the places your Elliott Smith CDs used to occupy. Shauf’s halted, bedroom-recording voice and acoustic fingerpicking is all over full-length Darker Days (due May 19 on the P Is For Panda label). But you know what we really like about this guy? Hint: It’s not the indie-kid sadness. Answer: His next gig is June 2 in a school cafeteria in Saskatchewan.
