Like historically famous works Bread And Fruit Dish On A Table (Picasso; 1909) and Three Men And A Baby (Guttenberg, Danson, Selleck; 1987), a straightforward title is always appreciated in the creative arts. Heavy Psych is the fifth full-length by West Coast stoner-rock titans Nebula, and even the clueless among you—that includes you people who currently believe you’re at a fan site dedicated to Monster Magnet—can guess what it sounds like. When he formed Nebula as a splinter group of Fu Manchu back in ’97, singer/guitarist Eddie Glass traded that band’s skate-shop boogie van for a swirling, Mudhoney-meets-Blue Cheer hovercraft. Check out the Hendrixian wah-wah of “The Dagger” from Heavy Psych, due July 7 on Tee Pee. The label is also reissuing Nebula’s 1998 debut Let It Burn on vinyl later this year.
