OMG! I just saw this. Didn't know. What a blow and how sad. Damn. Any suicide is very sad. But just from a musical perspective, what a huge loss. And because he was just so damn good. In my view, he just wasn't part of the cadre of good indie artists, he was one of the best. Up there with a Pollard, Westerberg or Malkmus!!

Some of the best albums of the 90s and 00s were Sparklehorse albums. Their first album Viviadixie... just blew me away when it came out. It was at the height of the lo-fi era, and fit in with all of that, but the songs were better than your average lo-fi band. But then his 1999 album -- Good Morning Spider -- was simply one of the very best albums of the decade, and a personal favorite of mine.

His next two albums -- Dreamnt and Wonderful Life -- are excellent as well. I still play all these albums. Its just so sad that we won't have anymore of his special music. He had such a way with melody and sounds. Very original and very very good.

First Kurt, then Elliott, now Mark! The world is going to suck a little more without this great artist in it. FUCK!

Severe depression is a disease of the mind and I just hope the brilliant minds of science can someday find something that approximates a cure. I feel bad for Linkous' family. Suicidal people should know: you have choices. Suicide isn't the only choice.
